Weekly Wrap-Up (April 1st)

Madison was so much fun yesterday! A very special thank you to Ms. Alvarado, Mr. Bothe, Mr. Hoppe, Mrs. Kreisman, Mrs. Lowe, Ms. Quinn, Mr. Larson, and Ms. Wendel for joining us for the day! It was so helpful to have so many extra adults! Also, THANK YOU to all the parents of all the students for allowing your student to go on this awesome field trip! It was my first time with NDLC visiting the Capitol, and I was so glad I was with this group. Here's some photos:

Curriculum Updates:

Reading: Forward, forward, forward. I have really been working hard with them to read a variety of passages and answer questions. Students have been putting in the hard work and I am confident that they will be successful on the reading portion of the Forward on Wednesday. We will make sure to get some more practice in on Monday and Tuesday, of course!

Math: We are continuing to work at understanding common denominators. It seems as if most students are really getting the hang of identifying the common denominator between two fractions. We've also spent quite a bit of time this week understanding money and how we can represent an amount of money in decimal and fraction form. Some of us are still struggling to identify what each coin is. Next time you go shopping, have your fourth grader identify the change you need!

Writing: I am blown away by how much these fourth graders have improved in their writing of short response and long response. They take their TDA (Text Dependent Analysis) on Tuesday. I feel extremely confident in these kiddos that as long as they apply what I've taught them and take their time, they will do AMAZING.

Enjoy your weekend. Hopefully we start having more consistent Spring weather soon! 🌷

Thank You

It's hard to put into words how bittersweet the end of the school year is. It has truly been an honor to teach this group of fourth grad...
