Week of Feb 21st

Thank you SO much for the Valentines Day treats on Monday. I apologize for sending your fourth grader home all sugared up. We had a lot of fun playing Valentines Day themed games and watching The Tiger Rising in the afternoon!

I'm on the hunt for a digital timer to use in the classroom. If you by chance have one at home that you don't use, I'd love to take it off your hands!

Please send your child with a yoga mat or towel on Tuesday (2/22) - We have yoga in the afternoon!

Environmental Club Project:

NDLC will be collecting your Little Bites bags from now until May! The Entenmann company has a collection service where if you send in a box of recycled Little Bites bags they will give you the money for your organization. It's a nice way to raise money for our school for recycling!

Here are examples of what we are collecting:

Send the empty bags to school and we will take care of the rest!

Thanks,
NDLC Environmental Club

Our Health Office is in need of the following clothing items. If you are able to donate any items please deliver them to the office. Thank you so much!

Curriculum Updates:

Reading: We've had a great start to our historical fiction book clubs. Students set in place some really great strategies and tools so they can be successful with their book club. Please check in with your child, are they meeting their reading goals? It is really important that all book club members are carrying their load so all members can be successful! It has been amazing seeing how much the students are learning about the different historical time periods from their books.

Math: Your fourth grader's math test should have came home on Monday. Please make sure to sign it and send it back if you haven't already. We are starting Unit 6 now - FRACTIONS! Students this year don't seem as nervous when starting this unit thanks to number corner. We worked on some fraction vocabulary this week as well as additing and subtracting fractions

Writing: Alongside reading historical fiction, we are writing historical fiction pieces. Much of what we learned last unit is able to transfer nicely into this unit. Students are getting really comfortable with the writing processes and making those big bold revision that may make their paper look crazy and messy! Again, it has just been really great watching these kiddos incorporate and interpret history into their writing.

Enjoy the weekend!

Thank You

It's hard to put into words how bittersweet the end of the school year is. It has truly been an honor to teach this group of fourth grad...
