Week of February 7th

 Happy Friday!

Wow!! We had quite a good turn out at our end of writing celebration. Thank you to all of the families that came, and all of the families who supported and encouraged their child during this amazing opportunity. I am so excited to send your children's work to Colombia's Teacher's College Reading and Writing Project for them to see all the great work these kiddos have done. Here's some photos from our celebration (+ a couple silly class ones before the families arrived 😊)

Upcoming Events:

Monday, February 14th: Valentine's Day ❤ Students will be coming home with a class list and information on how we will be celebrating.

Monday, February 21st: No School for Students

Monday, February 28th: We will be taking a field trip with Mr. Guell to Skate City in celebration of finishing the roller-skating unit in Gym. Please get your child's permission slip in if you haven't already.

February 22nd - 25th:

A Message from the third grade members of Environmental Club:

NDLC will be collecting your Little Bites bags from now until May! The Entenmann company has a collection service where if you send in a box of recycled Little Bites bags they will give you money for your organization. It's a nice way to raise money for our school for recycling!

Here are examples of what we are collecting:

Send the empty bags to school and we will take care of the rest!

Thanks,

NDLC Environmental Club

Curriculum Updates:

Reading: Our Reading History: The American Revolution unit has come to an end. I am excited to continue incorporating history into our reading as we begin our Historical Fiction Book Clubs. Students will be in book clubs as they read about characters whose historical setting made an impact on them! Our plan is for students to read 1 chapter book club book a week, so please encourage your child to be reading this book when they have their scheduled reading homework.

Math: Chapter 8 is coming to an end and we will be taking our chapter 8 test on Friday, February 11th. Be on the look out for your child coming home with their Test Review Packet on Monday.

Word Study: We will begin Unit 7 this week! Your child come home with a unit review packet. I really encourage this work, even though it is optional. There is a strong connection between the kiddos that do those packets, and scoring higher on the unit test.

Stay well! Enjoy your weekend!

Thank You

It's hard to put into words how bittersweet the end of the school year is. It has truly been an honor to teach this group of fourth grad...
